Building tomorrow's resilience

The project aims to improve the academic performance of 80 extremely vulnerable pupils aged 9 to 14 attending the Ditau elementary school. It also aims to reduce school drop-out and improve the psychosocial well-being of young people. FXB also hopes to raise community awareness of HIV and gender-based violence. More specifically it aims to improve academic performance and encourage further study through academic support, daily meals and school materials to help children stay in school. Provide opsychosocial support by helping young people overcome trauma. Build young people's resilience by preparing them to face daily challenges by tackling issues such as suicide prevention, HIV/AIDS, harassment, rights and duties, and various forms of abuse, particularly those linked to gender-based violence. It will also raise community awareness by encouraging young people to play an active role in their communities by sharing their knowledge and participating in local initiatives.

Founded in 1989, FXB-International is a Swiss organisation. Its mission is to fight poverty and AIDS, by helping orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV/AIDS, and by strengthening the social and economic capacities of their families and communities.

South Africa, known as the "Rainbow Nation," is located at the southern tip of Africa. Despite its rich resources and diverse cultures, the country faces challenges in poverty, education, and economic growth. Poverty is a persistent issue, with stark income inequality and high unemployment rates, especially in rural areas and townships. Education quality varies significantly, with schools in impoverished areas facing shortages in infrastructure, qualified teachers, and learning materials. Higher education also faces financial accessibility challenges. South Africa's mixed economy includes key industries like mining, manufacturing, agriculture, and services. Despite being the continent's most industrialized country, economic growth has been slow due to factors like corruption, policy uncertainty, and global economic fluctuations. Unemployment and inequality remain critical hurdles to sustainable development. South Africa is a country of great potential, working to address systemic issues.
