The Flying Kites Technology Resource Center was successfully constructed despite the challenges posed by flooding in Kenya and has become fully operational as of December 2024. This milestone marks a significant achievement for the center, which aims to enhance digital presence in schools and improve student engagement. In 2024, the center provided a variety of technology resources to 231 network teachers and 5,101 students from 9 Network Schools. These resources included desktop computers, high-speed printers, student tablets, and loaner technology equipment. The Academy Computer Lab played a crucial role in hosting all workshops and scheduled Open House visits for Teacher ICT Training participants. The center conducted 136 training workshops for 231 teachers, achieving varying levels of proficiency across different modules. There has been a notable increase in the use of technology in classrooms, with 100% of teachers across the 9 Network Schools observed utilizing available technology. The teacher observation initiatives led by Tech Patrons showcased a commitment to technology integration across various educational levels. Qualitative feedback from beneficiaries indicates that the training has been highly beneficial, with teachers feeling more confident in using technology and digital resources in their classrooms. The loaner program has also been a significant help for both teachers and students, facilitating lesson planning and maintaining student engagement. The success of the Technology Resource Center highlights the importance of resilience and dedication in overcoming obstacles and achieving goals. As the center continues to support educators and students, it sets a positive example for other initiatives aiming to integrate technology into education.
